Armpit to armpit = 11 1/2 inches.
Waist = 10 1/4 inches across.
Shorts Tag Size 8 - Runs a little larger than average.
Waist = 11 1/4 inches.
Front of shorts = 10 inches long, back = 10 1/4 inches.
Inseam = 2 inches.
Fitting tip:
Find a similar item that fits well and compare measurements to those above OR measure from shoulder through crotch and back to shoulder and divide by 2.  Shoulder to crotch is the most important measurement.  Dance wear often sizes differently (Usually smaller) than regular clothes.
